September started off with a bang for me this year. The first week saw me headed to Melbourne Spring Fashion Week for Runway show 2 of the Designer Series, watching West Side Story at Melbourne’s beautiful Regent Theatre, and being lucky enough to attend PRIMPED’s biannual Look Book event that they hold in conjunction with David Jones.
I fear the rest of the month will be a letdown, though. Pretty sure I peaked too soon.
Anyway, I’ll shut my trap and get on to showing pictures of the gorgeous fashions from MSFW. Designer Series Show 2 featured the sartorial talents of, to name but a few, Gwendolynne, Thurley, Collette Dinnigan, Akira and the list goes on.
Make-up at the show was quite minimal (which is a big trend for Spring/Summer, so ladies take note), with peaches and cream complexions, a bit of winged liner and nude lips, while hair was left loose and flowing with brushed out curls, a deep side part and a simple clip in the top corner reminiscent of the flappers of the 1920’s.
Standouts for me were the beautiful, floaty dresses from Gwendolynne in variant cream and nude hues. The leather variations and offerings for the boys from Arthur Galan along with his Chanel inspired jackets. And, of course all of the dresses from Thurley, Collette Dinnigan and Aurelio Costarella which point to embellishments, ruching and ruffles for the Spring/Summer seasons to balance the nude, polished and minimalistic approach to hair and make-up.
Ok, shutting my trap now (I mean it this time) and getting onto the pictures…
Gwendolynne
Yeojin Bae
Lisa Ho
Aurelio Costarella
Akira
Megan Park
Collette Dinnigan
Arthur Galan
Thurley
Unfortunately due to the lack of a decent vantage point, and in large part to my incompetent camera, I was unable to use any of my images. Therefore, these images are courtesy of fashionising.com.
Ooh, so many gorgeous pieces! I tried to pick a few but failed miserably because I loved them all.
I was in the same boat (hence the number of pictures). I really think show 2 was the cream of the crop and it’s very rare that you’ll come out wanting to buy practically every single outfit. x
My favourite from those shots is definitely Arthur Galan.
You’re right about Collette Dinnigan.
Annnd does that mean, make up wise, (I’m assuming Yaz banged on about minimal too?), that fake tan is now a faux pas? I can’t imagine it… (the good stuff, not the orange).
Love x
He did put on a good show, but my faves were definitely Thurley and Gwendolynne. Mm..yes, I was expecting a bit more from Collette Dinnigan. I was expecting more of them to be showstoppers. Glad you agree =)
On the makeup front, I have heard rumblings that paler skin is in, and that those with lighter skin tones should embrace it. Having said that, I don’t think fake tan (of course the good stuff, never the orange) will ever really disappear, especially come summer time, so you’re safe because you always rock the good type of tan. xx
…what do you mean you peaked too early in September?….let’s not forget the 19th!!
How could I forget the19th? Sorry Jas, now all my September fun is officially over. =)
