Melbourne Spring Fashion Week (MSFW) 2010

It’s that time of year again when Melbourne whips off it’s winter trench, kicks off the over the knee boots and slips on some slingbacks and a flirty, floral dress to say ‘Hello spring! Let’s see some of your fashion!’

Launched by Lord mayor Robert Doyle yesterday on the steps of Melbourne’s Town Hall, the city sought fit to bring out the sunshine and show the naysayers that yes, we know how to put on winter for you, but we can also make a damn fine spring!

With two lovely ladies by his side, ambassador of Spring Fashion Week Ruby Rose and the ‘face’ of the event Lucy McIntosh, the Lord mayor proclaimed Melbourne’s 16th Spring Fashion Week as the biggest yet with over 200 public events being held including free and ticketed shows, exhibitions, after-parties, classes and seminars.

Not to be missed though is the Designer Series, which presents the Spring Summer 2010-11 collections by more than 40 of Australia’s leading and up-and-coming designers and labels. Names to expect on the runway include Alpha 60, Thurley, Yeojin Bae and Arnsdorf just to name a few. With Melbourne Fashion Festival director Karen Webster now at the helm of MSFW, you can be sure to expect a beautifully put together and executed event that showcases the best that Melbourne has to offer.

The full official program for MSFW is expected to be launched today. For more information head to Melbourne Spring Fashion Week runs from August 30 – September 5 2010.
