Get your face on in 3.7 seconds!

Maybelline’s new Dream Smooth Mousse is sitting pretty after receiving the accolade of ‘My go-to weekend foundation (day)’. Now, I’m not sure how other people do it, but I tend to have a few (meaning lots of) different foundations for different occasions. The one I wear to work is very rarely the same as what I’ll wear to a special occasion, or what I’ll use when I’m just going shopping on the weekend, etc. Frankly, a lot of it will depend on time, i.e. the time I have to get ready beforehand for said occasion, and the time I need to be at the occasion will warrant which foundation I use.

Maybelline Dream Smooth Mousse is now ‘My go-to weekend foundation (day)’ for precisely one outstanding reason. IT IS SO QUICK AND EASY TO APPLY! I can put this on and be out the door in less than five minutes – which is awesomeballs for a girl whose make up routine usually takes about 45 minutes! (Awesomeballs for the Mr. who has to wait for me too!)

Using the sponge provided, I just smooth it on (remembering to always start in the middle and work your way out when applying foundation) and BAM! 3.7 seconds later, my complexion is evened out and all dewy and, um you know, fresh looking.

The creamy formula is hydrating and ace for those with dry skin, and the medium coverage it provides imparts a natural, healthy glow. You really don’t need to use a lot to get good coverage and the creaminess ensures it blends rather flawlessly.

Where the Dream Smooth Mousse does falter however, is that it does tend to oxidize a little after a while and therefore loses some of its lustre (this is in my spite of me priming beforehand).  It’s not one for the long hauls in my opinion, which is why I like to use it for short bursts of activity (shopping, lunching etc.). Also, be mindful that the colours tend to err on the side of beige, which might not suit everyone so make sure you test it out in the light before purchasing.

Maybelline Dream Smooth Mousse is available now from leading chemists, supermarkets and department stores. RRP$21.95

Having a foundation that goes right on with no drama? That sounds like absolutely fabulous news. I’ll have to take a look when I go by the shops today!

No drama whatsoever! It really was a pleasant surprise and it’s great for those ‘no-fuss’ days (in which we all tend to fuss and wear make up anyway). =)

Great review! I’m dying to try this out now, can’t wait to head down to Priceline 😀 Have you tried the gel liners too? I can’t seem to find them anywhere!

Thanks Celina, let me know how you go with it! No, I haven’t tried the liners yet but I’ve heard good things. They’re supposed to be out – maybe try the Bourke St Priceline, they always have everything. Good luck x

I keep reading about people changing foundations during different seasons/for different occasions… I’m SO confused and naive I use the same foundation whenever.. :/ I need some serious foundation help but I have NO earthly idea where to go! Last time I went to MAC the girl gave me a foundation that was TOTALLY the wrong colour 😦 😦 I wish I was foundation savvy like you!!!

Aw, thanks Mez. It’s very much a case of going through a few frogs before you find your prince (or princes). And like I said, there are different ones that will work for different times. I’ve got some more foundation posts on the way so stay tuned. In the meantime, I’ll DM you my email address and you can send me your skin type, concerns etc. and I’ll be happy to offer some suggestions. x
