Illamasqua Part Deux: Chadstone counter opening & cocktail party!

For everyone who isn’t familiar with Illamasqua, allow me to enlighten you both here and here.

If you’re still not too sure about them, and you are into your make up then believe me – they are a brand you will want to get to know. Like, now.

Operating exclusively through Myer, Illamasqua recently toasted their Chadstone opening with a tipple of champagne, some orange juice for the not-so alcohol inclined and a few of their amazingly talented make up artists flown directly from London to showcase the brands amazing cosmetic range.

With my fellow Melbourne Beauty Blogger brigade in attendance, it was a great opportunity to catch up, talk shop and indulge our senses in the wild, visually stunning array that is Illamasqua.

As is the essence of Illamasqua, transformations were the aim of the evening. The always lovely, Jacie, from You’ve Got Face & You’ve Got Nail opted for a postmodern Mad Men look, complete with perfectly defined lips. I love the purple tones in this look; they work so well against her skin don’t you think?

Whilst Violet LeBeaux, who’s always spectacularly creative with her make up anyway, decided to try something a little more, well let’s just say ‘darker’. She’s like a cute, pixie Beetlejuice. With pink eyebrows, no less!

And then there was moi, and whilst my goal of the night was to get dolled up Black Swan style, my über talented make up artist Daniel Busuttil wanted to try something a little more complementary to my skin tone. His choices: Pure Pigment in Ore, a rich metallic bronze shadow, coupled with their medium eyeliner in Debonair; a bright sky blue that was used on my lower lash line.

Being that I promised the girls at work I would show them the final result, I kept the eye make up on until the next evening (minus the brows however, as whilst they were great, they were also a bit too OTT for a day at the office) and it ALL STAYED IN PLACE. For a whole 24 HOURS. (Please don’t cringe, I don’t usually leave my make up on for that long. Honestly.)

The BEST TIP that Daniel gave me, which incidentally allowed the eye shadow to stay in place and not melt into the creases: Apply concealer before eye shadow and that will secure it and hold it in place. Seriously. 24 hours, I kid you not.

Thanks to Jacie, Violet and Jimmy America for letting me thieve some of their photos.

    Wow it looks like you had such a wonderful time. It seems that Melbourne Beauty Bloggers tend to know one another and hang out more than Sydney bloggers tend to which is a shame for me haha.
    Great post. Tam

    Thanks for the compliments ladies!
    @Dempeaux – Jacie looked incredible, purple works so well against her skin. The Illamasqua MUA’s are all so talented though, hopefully you’ll get one in WA soon.

    @Natalie – thanks gal. Next time – you’re coming!

    @Tammerly – Yeah, the Melbourne Beauty Bloggers are a good little group and we all like to stay in touch. I’m sure if you ogranised something in Sydney, they’d all show up. Otherwise just come to Melbourne!

      Ha ha, eyebrows have been the bane of my existence! Thanks so much though.
      And yes, all the Illamasqua MUA’s are so talented. Have you had a ‘transformation’ yet?
